Our solution was to establish huxmar. The name is derived from our two West Highland terriers Huxley and Marley and as a growing family business it seemed in keeping to include them!

The All Season Summerhouse is the simple and achievable solution to the problem of space if that is your concern; a new office away from the home, a teenage pad, man-room, music studio… or simply a space in which to relax and escape. Equally there is a current trend for making more use of our gardens and enjoying the fresh air away from the main home. Bringing the outdoors in, the all season summer house offers you the opportunity to have another dining area, teenage pad, man-room or simply a place to enjoy the peace of your garden.
We design a range of standard summerhouses to suit most spaces and budgets.They do not need to be big, just beautiful! The choice is entirely yours and with the options to fully insulate, heat and light your new space it is literally an all season room.

Ripon Gardens – Kitchen
A new kitchen, utility extension and outdoor decking area. Clean lines, a modern bright appearance and something that would be easy to live in, and with for many years. Bi-fold glass doors were installed to bring in light and provide access to the new decking area. A new utility built onto the original kitchen space provides a compact practical working space away from the kitchen living area.
Baronswood – Kitchen
A new kitchen and dining area extension, design and refit. Large, wide, clear open spaces with wooden flooring allows for disability access and full family involvement in the room. Glass doors and expansive windows invite the garden into the house. An extensive decking area connects the kitchen with the garden.
Waleric House – Kitchen
An old empty property that required a full house strip-out with extension. The Huxmar kitchen of striking black gloss units and a central island with chrome accessories maintains the simple style and lines that run through the build and suits the open-plan feature of the downstairs living areas. Large windows and doors open out onto a secluded decked seating area.
Snuff Mill-All Season Summer House
Snuff Mill was built in the 1800’s and the owners required a sizeable extension onto the family home as well as a summerhouse.
A Huxmar All Season Summerhouse was the final part of this beautiful and enjoyable build. It was specifically designed and installed to perfectly compliment the garden space, views of the house and the surrounding village and countryside and provides the family with additional dining and seating accommodation.
Warkworth – Kitchen
The kitchen at this property has been extended twice in the past and the resulting space has three distinct areas. Huxmar designed and fitted the kitchen to maintain as much light and space as possible, including installing a sky-light which is an interesting feature in it’s own right as well as producing more natural light. The cream gloss units, perfectly match the Smeg range cooker and fridge, black corian tops wrap around the pillar creating an integrated and seamless finish and a slate tile throughout draws the eating area into the kitchen.
Haldane – Kitchen
Having been a student let for many years the property was in need of a complete refurbishment throughout, internally and externally. The open-plan kitchen area created by Smailes Construction and fitted by huxmar is complemented by sleek high gloss white units, a high level table and central island. Light flooring throughout enhances the sense of space which is further improved by the large windows and glass doors connecting with the outside. The secluded paved patio can be accessed from the kitchen via bi-fold doors bringing the outside in.
Saltwell Dene – Kitchen
The owners wanted to improve their kitchen and with some creative thinking and design skills they took some of the dead space outside in their back yard to make their dream become a reality. The new kitchen area created by Smailes Construction and fitted by huxmar consists of light floor units, providing excellent storage and work space. Retaining weight-bearing walls and working with the new space leads to interesting areas with character. A breakfast bar and archway lead onto a seating area that continues out into the remaining yard area that has been renovated and updated. A fixed glazed roof opens up the room, introducing light at all times of the day and is a striking and innovative feature in it’s own right.
Snuff Mill – Kitchen
Snuff Mill was built in the 1800’s and the new owners required a total refit and a sizeable extension onto the small family home as well as an orangery and summerhouse.
The kitchen, a combination of traditional and contemporary features was designed and fitted by huxmar. Selected to suit both the age and style of the home alongside the customer requirements for a modern feel the kitchen blends sleek units and integrated gloss accessories, alongside wood flooring and softer colours and curves.
Warkworth – All Season Summer House
The Huxmar All Season Summer House is nestled at the end of this cottage garden. The area had previously been filled with old sheds and a green house, backed by a very sparse hedge and was not attractive and detracted from the lovely garden. The family decided to create another room that could be used all year round for entertaining or just relaxing, away from the house, independent. Warm and inviting in the summer with the double doors left open, or cosy and welcoming in the winter with the radiator proving plenty of heat. Carefully installed lighting enhances the beauty of the summer house whether it is day or night.
Summerhouse with Seaview
The customer wanted to base his All Season Summer House on Range 1, situated at the end of his garden making the most of the fantastic seaviews his home enjoys. The room was designed to fit specifically and sensitively into the space available, maintaining sufficient garden whilst adding another dimension that can now be enjoyed all year round.
Cumbria Cottage – Kitchen
Huxmar designed and supplied this kitchen which perfectly compliments the rugged landscape surrounding the home. The cabinets were selected to provide a rustic feel, complimenting the slate floor, whilst the stainless steel appliances, glass and black gloss worktops contribute a contemporary feel.
Swarland – kitchen
This beautiful 19th century home was fully refurbished by the owners and huxmar had the privilege to design, supply and fit the kitchen. Making use of the natural light we retained an open-plan style to the family breakfasting / living room. Fitted with bespoke white gloss cabinets, enhancing the sense of space, integrated appliances, a traditional Belfast sink and limestone floor tiles provides a sleek modern appearance which is still in keeping with the property.
I would recommend huxmar on my experience of job management by the site manager and by the demeanour of the guys who came and went throughout the kitchen fitting and additional jobs. I was confident that everyone who contributed wanted to do a good job.
Excellent value for money and excellent quality of service. They listened to our thoughts and ideas. The attention to detail is second to none. We were given a commencement date and completion date and both were met.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Smailes Construction and huxmar, and have done so on many occasions. The works are completed from start to finish by professional tradesmen with the minimum amount of disruption.
